Two Factor Authentication

Security has always been important to us, and we take extra precautions to make sure your account is as secure as possible. That's why we've enabled the connection between Google Authenticator and ManageWP.

Google Authenticator is a mobile app that adds two-factor authentication to your website account to keep your data safe. After installing Google Authenticator on your mobile device and connecting the dashboard to Google Authenticator, you must automatically generate a Google Authenticator passcode on your mobile device to sign in to your account.

It is very easy to set up Google Authenticator. You can do this by copying the code directly to your phone or by scanning the uniquely displayed barcode. This will only take a few seconds. In the event that you lose your phone or it is stolen, there is also a link you can click to change your code and keep your dashboard safe. If you are unable to access your devices and are concerned about the security of your dashboard, you can of course contact our support and we will help you set up a new two factor authentication code.

WordPress Two Factor Authentication

The iThemes Security Pro plugin makes it easy to enable WordPress two-factor authentication. Once activated, users must enter both a password and a time-sensitive code that will be sent to a secondary device to login to your WordPress site.

What is WordPress Two-Factor Authentication?

WordPress two-factor authentication (or WordPress 2-step verification) adds an important extra layer of protection to your WordPress site's login and admin area by requiring 1) a password and 2) a secondary time-sensitive code to login.

How WordPress Two-Factor Authentication Works

Once two-factor authentication is enabled with the iThemes Security Pro plugin, users will see a second screen after successfully entering their password on their WordPress admin login screen.

On this screen, they must enter a time-sensitive authentication code that will be sent to a secondary device, such as a smartphone.

To access this code, they must use the device associated with their user profile during the WordPress two-factor authentication installation process with a two-factor authentication app such as Google Authenticator.

Works with any two-factor authentication app that supports TOTP

The iThemes Security plugin uses a standard called TOTP (time-based one-time password provider). Any two-factor authentication app that supports TOTP can work with the iThemes Security plugin.
